So the 3rd set of postcards went out to absentee owners late last week and over the weekend so I am getting lots of calls. What’s cool is that this is actually the 2nd time I’ve mailed these 550 or so people. Last time was in July…I removed all the people who called me and sent to all the folks who ignored me. Now I’m getting another group of calls. I have 12 voicemails from sellers waiting for me to call them back (which I’ll do over the next two nights). I love it!
Tomorrow my husband will be checking out two properties from some calls we got on Friday evening.
One of the callers was an interesting gentleman who lives in NY and wants to unload his vacant property in Ft. Lauderdale. It went through probate and he is now the official owner. However, he doesn’t want to hold it because he has multiple properties in New York and doesn’t have anyone down in South Florida to take care of this one. It’s been vacant for 4 years now and he tried for a year and a half to sell through a realtor and things didn’t quite work out.
So you’re probably wondering why the heck I entitled the post “No monkey offers!” Well, I’ll let you listen to this small snippet from the NY seller’s voicemail message to me and you’ll understand….just simply click on the audio icon below

The message was way longer than that, but that was the highlight. Hilarious! Anyway, no monkey business for this guy. We’ll be sure to give him what we deem as a fair offer and if he wants more than what we want to offer, we’ll offer to do an option contract with him. For those who are wondering what happened with the other option contract…well the seller went ghost on me so I’m not worrying about her and will follow up in another couple weeks.
Looking forward to making a couple offers this week on these seller’s properties!

Shae,
He said don’t, “call me with any monkey amount of money.” That’s funny! He probably thought he was cursing you out.
Good luck with him and all of your other deals!!!

Thanks Stephanie! What’s funny is that when I actually spoke to him on the phone he was pretty nice…not nearly as edgy as his voicemail message
He actually said “Thank you for calling!” LOL! Oh, and book is on its way to you tomorrow now that I have all the addresses I’m mailing to!

That voicemail is hilarious. Some people act like offers are submitted just to piss them off. “I’m not giving the house away…” well call me back when you are homie. LOL

LOL! Too funny, J. Phil (hubby) checked it out today and we’re going to have to offer him less than what he states as the lowest he’d consider…we’ll see if he considers it a monkey or not. LOL!

Hey Shae,
Did you ever offer this NY guy for his house? If so, did he think it was a monkey offer……or perhaps a donkey offer?
Great recording! Too funny.
Glad you liked our post on our Yellow Letter campaign!
Cheers

Hey Dave!
Yes, we certainly did offer on this house and I really thought we were going to get this one…but their attorney stepped in and said it wasn’t enough because they had to split the money between a few siblings (plus he had to get his money too I’m sure). He will be one of the ones we send a holiday card off to
I’d be really surprised if he’s sold it yet and its sitting vacant.
