Freedom!

Today is the day!   Last Friday was my last working day at IBM and today is my last “official” day and the best Memorial Day ever. It’s funny because although I’ve been enjoying the day off with my family I’m also pumped up and ready to begin work tomorrow, reporting to my new boss!

To celebrate my freedom, I went over to the mall and bought a new friend. Her name is Liberty and I’ve been getting acquainted with her all weekend.

I think I love her.

Liberty is a Macbook.  My very first Mac.  I’m starting to realize why people say “Once you go Mac, you never go back!”

I will be doing some video posts very soon.  I have to play with the iMovie software and figure out how to edit videos, etc.  I was able to figure out Windows Movie Maker pretty quickly so it shouldn’t be so bad. I wanted to do one today, but I’ve been swimming and outside in the crazy heat all day so I’m not exactly looking “video ready” right now and the kids are pretty noisy. LOL!

One last thing for today…. Yesterday I had the awesome privilege of having dinner with someone who over the past year has become one of my favorite people, Bob Burg.  For those who don’t know of Bob, he’s the author of 3 books I’ve really enjoyed — The Go-Giver, Go-Givers Sell More, and Endless Referrals…plus he’s just a great great businessman and person in general. He emphasized the importance and effectiveness of focusing on referrals to grow both our real estate and enriched coffee and tea businesses.  I’m going to re-read Endless Referrals and listen to his “The Referral Mindset” audiobook and make sure I’m putting the tips into practice!

Happy Memorial Day everyone and may God bless all of those who have served (and continue to serve) this country such that I can enjoy a great “Freedom” day as I have today!

    Shae,

I’m super excited to see some of your videos. Can’t wait to see what they’re going to be about.

I have to let you know tho, that I am SUPER jealous that you got a MAC. I am thinking I definitely want one. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about throwing my laptop out the window :-)

I’m ready to go wholesale a property just to buy a MAC.

Here’s a question…..what do you do with all of your information and data on your current laptop tho when you get your MAC? That question can go out to anyone that switched from pc to mac.

    Thanks!

P.S. I’m not one that loves change sooo much, but I still do it anyway, but it’s quite scary especially when you’re talking about years and years and years of stuff stored on your pc.

P.S. again. I dunno why my comment luv thing says response cashed until wed 2 @ 17:53. Do you? That’s kinda weird.

@Carey, you’re so hilarious. Go ahead and wholesale that deal and get yourself a Mac. The transfer process wasn’t too bad. I have an external hard drive so I just put everything on it to facilitate the transfer. Actually the folks at the Apple store would’ve done it for me too, but I just did it myself. I’ve only run into one application that won’t work on my Mac but with virtualization software you can run Windows based programs on your Mac so I just need to get that set up eventually. As far as the CommentLuv? I have noooo clue!

@Kevin, thanks pal! When you do make the leap, I want to hear all about it :-)

you didn’t mention what you are planning to do and how you will
earn a profit from your activities.
please eleborate for the benefit of the rest of us.

Hi Paul, certainly. My husband & I have two businesses. One is real estate investing — we focus on buy & hold as well as flips (including short sales). The other is an enriched coffee and tea business. We’ve been working on both for some time now, and now I’m focusing full time efforts on them. My husband will continue to do massage therapy as well. For us, our first priority is growing our (mostly) passive income and building wealth. In the not too distant future, I plan to work with college students and young professionals to help them get off on the right foot towards financial freedom. No details on that yet…its a vision that is still baking in the oven :-) Hope this helps answer your question! Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Shae! I’m definitely gonna look into one and if the MAC guys will do it for me then I think things will be ok.

And I never did find out about the comment luv thing…seems to work sometimes if I refresh it. Hmmmmm.

So how’s unemployed life treatin’ ya so far? lol

Hey Carey, so far so great :-) I’m looking forward to doing another blog post. The next few days are super busy days for our enriched coffee and tea business so I won’t be online much. Going to take some video footage of the events though and work on getting more testimonials! Next week, I will have a bit more focus on the real estate side. I’m going to finally do what you suggested and go to the local adult living facility and work to hire some reliable folks to help me with our marketing campaign!

All of my potential beta testers for my lead tracking program are going mac %$#@! Not good considering it will be PC only I think.

I couldn’t be more excited for you Shae, it’s going to be a blast reading your blog over the next few months to see how you manage all your newly found time.

    Hi Shae,

Congrats from me as well. Although it can get a little lonely being away from the company water fountain and camaraderie, working for yourself definitely has some wonderful benefits.

I made the move over 5 years ago and my little girls have actually had a full-time daddy in their life…a dream I always held long before we ever had them.

How do you feel Real Estate will stack up as an investment during the coming financial crisis?

    Warmly,
    Haydn

Hi Haydn, thanks so much and I know it’s an such awesome feeling to be able to spend more time with your girls. Time freedom is a true gift.

My husband & I view real estate as a solid long term investment for cashflow – there are deals to be had and we expect the prices in our area to decline even more next year. I think it’s just important to be selective and not get in over your head. We’re diversifying though…we’re not putting all our eggs in the real estate basket.
