Extreme Business Makeovers: Wow!

Hi everyone!  I just got back yesterday from an incredible event in Orlando called Extreme Business Makeovers (XBM)- co-hosted by Bob Burg (author of The Go-Giver series) and Thom Scott.  What was really cool about this event is that its approach is very holistic.  Not only did we hear from several successful entrepreneurs with a variety of expertise (real estate, network marketing, internet marketing, systems building, information marketing, social media, etc) but we also heard from several highly inspirational and motivational speakers.  Even greater than the content was the audience.  There were so many great people in the room and it was a pleasure to meet so many like-minded folks!

I think I’ll do a couple posts this week that share some of the notes I took at the event.  I think you’ll find them both interesting and helpful regardless of whether you’re just getting started with your real estate business or have years of experience under your belt (it really applies to any business — not just real estate).

In the meantime I thought I’d give some of my favorite highlights from the event:

  • On day 1, before the event officially started I had a chance to meet, hug, and chat with Zig Ziglar (83 years old) and his beautiful wife (whom he lovingly refers to as “The Redhead”) — so awesome! His advice? “Never worry!” :-)
  • I met Frank McKinney, real estate artist and best selling author — wow, he has such an inspiring story and he has a wonderful foundation called The Caring House Foundation which my family supports on a monthly basis — if you have never heard of Frank McKinney, time to change that.  You will be blown away by the homes he builds (not just the multimillion dollar mansions but also the sustainable communities in Haiti)
  • I received a wonderful gift from consultant and inspirational speaker Dave Carpenter — and as a result will be meeting with Bob Burg for dinner in a couple weeks
  • I was inspired by the story of how  Carrie Wilkerson, aka the Barefoot Executive built a wildly successful business online in a way that most people don’t
  • I was inspired to make an important “shift” by motivational speaker and coach Simon T. Bailey

Such an honor to meet Zig Ziglar and his wife!

I have a ton of respect for this man - Frank McKinney, the modern day Robin Hood

I could list another 10 phenomenal things about the event, but I will focus on writing a couple additional posts to share some of what I learned.  I plan to attend XBM next year as well because it was just. that. good. :-)

Oh, one other thing. Before heading back home I was able to meet up with my girl Steph from FlipThisWholesaler.net for lunch so that was an extra treat!  Fortunately, I was traveling with my girl CeCe Espuet who is a phenomenal photographer so we had her do the picture taking!

Shae & Steph enjoying a sunshiney and breezy Orlando day

P.S. As far as the deal I spoke about last week, we’ll have to wait until early May to get the contract back because the owner is out of town, but everything is looking great so far and we’re working towards securing the funds for the deal.  Now its back to grind to work on the next one!

Fo shizzle. I really should’ve known that the pro knew what she was doing when she had us pose like that. I’m yet to see any cheesy pics in her portfolio, but it was just too funny!

Any idea if they are holding any events in the Greater NY/NJ area?

Hey Scotty, XBM is an annual event in Orlando but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find Bob Burg speaking at an event in your area at some point. You should connect with him on Facebook and ask!

Those events bring such great energy. BTW I Zig Ziglar really is a great guy in person. A gal in my mastermind group goes to church with him and has nothing but positive things to say.

    Keep it rockin Shae.
