About Shae

Thanks for stopping by! Allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Shannon, but you can call me Shae….many of my friends do! My dear hubby is Phil (my high school sweetie and an amazing massage therapist) and we have two young daughters.

My desire in life is rather simple:  I want to live an enjoyable (and debt free) life that is both pleasing to God and a blessing to others.

On May 31, 2010 I left my comfy, nice-paying, convenient work from home corporate job of nearly 11 years to focus on full-time entrepreneurship.  I know it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!  My husband Phil and I have two businesses — one is real estate (we buy & hold as well as flip in South Florida) and the other is an enriched coffee and tea business. We’re working hard to grow (mostly) passive income streams as my personal plan is to soon focus on a larger vision which will specifically help college students and young professionals get off on the right foot towards their own financial freedom!

We started real estate investing in 2007 when we got a taste of what it was like to be a landlord with a previous home that we moved out of and then used as an investment property.  We were both very interested in real estate investing (remember those Carlton Sheets infomercials?) but at the time in South Florida, prices of homes were nuts!  It was hard to cashflow on properties purchased at 2004-2007 prices (and we knew nothing about wholesaling or even property scouting at that time).  We ended up selling that investment property after tenants stopped paying rent and made a pretty penny because the market values were insane at the time.

Anyway, in summer of 2008 we started to really get serious about real estate investing and started a business to work on in our spare hours outside of our jobs.  We went through a foreclosure and short sale bootcamp training and that gave us a jumpstart.  I was inspired by the blogs of others in the real estate investing game and thought it would be awesome to track our own journey and also serve as a resource and hopefully an inspiration to others.

I have formed wonderful relationships with real estate investors and entrepreneurs across the country as a result of the interactions on this blog and I cherish every one of them.  That being said, please, please, please feel free to comment and ask questions on any of the posts. I will respond to all of them!
