A Little Late Night Motivation

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

On the real estate front, we’re still tracking down the tenant at the Option House so we can set up an Open House for next week Sunday. She’s working 14 hour shifts right now to get her money together because she knows that her monthly living expenses are about to increase rather dramatically…as a result she’s not easy to reach right now.  Anyway, it will get done.

I also have a potential short sale deal in the works with my neighbor — not much to say on this yet, but if there’s anything to it, I’ll know on Monday so stay tuned!

The reason for my post tonight is that I am really excited about this 2010 goal setting process.  I started writing down some goals last night across multiple areas — Spiritual, Financial (both personal & business), Physical (health), Personal, and Relationships.  Not finished yet, but getting really close. I also made a reading list for 2010 based off of reading 3 books per month (I upped it from “2+” to challenge myself more) and there are 19 books on it so far. The other 17 books will be determined as time goes along.

Tonight, I listened to a couple CDs on setting goals and after listening to them tonight I decided to do two things in 2010 that I did not do in 2009.

1. Keep a goal journal. Write my goals down in a goal journal every day.  The goals will be written in the present tense and will be specific with a date for completion. My daily prioritized list of action items will definitely be connected to these goals.

2. Visualize. This year I made a dreamboard which was a good start.  By the end of this year I’ll also create a mind movie and then once the 2010 goals are complete, I will also make sure to visualize the completion of my goals on a daily basis as I write them down in the journal.

On a related note, we hired a professional organizer to help us get our key living areas and office space completely decluttered and organized in a way that is easy to maintain.  She did an awesome job and I am so relieved to have systems in place, the appropriate furniture, containers, etc. to pull this off.  We’ll finish it up the first week of January and will be adding labels, etc. Can’t wait!  Decluttered home means decluttered mind :-)

    Hi Shae,

Steve gave all of the members of our mastermind group a goals journal
last year. I was writing in it every day for awhile, and then kind of fell off the wagon. I started up again recently and make it a point to write my goals down first thing in the morning. Definitely helps to keep what’s important in front of your face, and helps you to focus on doing what needs to be done each day in order to achieve those goals…

    2010 is gonna be awesome!!

I started something similar over the weekend – just a word document but it should help me stay focused and on track. I think 2010 is going to be a big year for a lot of people!

Hopefully, we’ll see the economy begin to pick up, the housing market get better as a result, and I’m super excited as always about technology. We’re going to see big things in 2010.

    Shae, as always great post!

Once you have used your new decluttering/organizing system for a little while, please fill us in on how’s it going! Julie and I need to get a better setup in place and there is no need to re-invent the wheel if you and Phillip find your system working! Inquiring minds want to know! :)

    Cheers

    Shae,

Love your dream board. I made one a while back for myself but I’m thinking perhaps Kathy and I should do one together. That dawned on me after checking out yours…..oh and btw, I love that red convertible of yours on your board…I have the same thing on mine, expect it’s silver ;-)

I love, love, love the idea of the mind movie! Fantastic. And your friends was awesome. Wow. Some really good stuff here Shae. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Carey! Isn’t that car sweet? I’m not at all obsessive about cars but I think its so fun to ride around in a smooth ride with the top down :-) I hope once you create your dreamboard, you’ll share it on your blog!

Yeah Bolaji’s mind movie was so awesome and brings a whole new dimension to the dream board.
