Some quiet time…and taxes
Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend. Since my last post we’ve been busy fielding the trickling phone calls from our last yellow letter campaign, working to move forward with our first short sale negotiation (there’s a story behind that for another day….), and nurturing current and developing new relationships with realtors so that we can establish mutually beneficial partnerships for our short sale investing.
There’s a lot going on right now and we’ve been going non-stop for some time….
In fact, today was the first day in awhile (too long) that my hubby and I sat, breathed, and really talked about what’s going on with our real estate investing, what’s not working for us, what feels right, what needs to be changed, etc. Usually we have 1-2 strategy meetings in a week next to our trusty whiteboard and really get organized and on the same page, but circumstances and “busyness” with jobs and some family matters have caused that slip to the backburner.
I’m sure some of you can relate to that!
Anyway, as a result, this week we’re taking some time to do some planning, get some marketing materials finalized, and get everything prepared to file our taxes. I usually have my taxes filed by the first week of March, so I’m definitely running behind and need to get everything organized. That being said, I won’t have much time for blogging.
I’ll look forward to providing some good updates soon! Have an awesome week!

Hi Shae,
It is tax season here in Canada as well.
Last year it took me 2 full days to put together everything that I needed for my taxes. I hope that this year, it doesn’t take me as long!

Shae,
You two are very wise taking the time to sit back evaluate your business. Far too many folks spend more time working in their business rather then on it. Hope you make the reflection time part of your routine.
Can’t wait to hear about “the story for another day”.

I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who hasn’t started getting their taxes together! Time to get on point!
BTW – Those strategy sessions are definitely important to do regularly — maybe you’ll do a BP post on what you guys cover in those meetings?

@Neil, good luck pal! I’m thinking its going to take me a couple hours of concentrated effort over 3-4 days. Hope you’re able to knock it out!
@Jason, thanks! Having the time to reflect and strategize is really key.
@Josh, hey you! What a treat to see you here
Yeah, you’re not the only one, bud….get it done this week! We can do it together!
I’ll definitely do a BP post either for this week or next week on what we cover in those strategy meetings.
I’m pretty sure this week isn’t going to happen (company in town), but I hope at least one of us can get on the ball. That said, I’m going to try to be better at getting out to the blogs of my peeps every week — lets see how that goes . . . you’re on the list! I’ll look forward to the post, BTW!
Hi Shae,
I like your idea, and I started with my taxes today!
I am going to spend 30 minutes a day for the next few weeks.
Anything longer than that will drive me crazy!
Talk to you later!

Shae,
I have been thinking about my taxes for the last week or so. Thinking about getting my paperwork in order. Thinking about calling to make my appointment. Thinking about how I don’t want to be running around at the last minute (as I usually do). Yep, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things : )
I’m going to get my appt set this week!
Thanks and good luck with your taxes.
Hey Neil, good for you! Take one bite at a time and you’ll finish the whole pie soon
Hey Eileen! Good for you — move past the thinking and get ‘er done! I should be getting a refund this year which provides me with more incentive to get it done sooner rather than later. Trying to finish up that emergency fund! LOL!
I’m going through goodfaithivesting withdrawals. Can’t wait to hear about the short sale deal.
